Finding Good Drop Shippers Online

By   August 20, 2018

Many new Shopify store owners turn to directories like Worldwide Brands and Salehoo to find drop shippers, but there are alternatives available too.

Worldwide Brands and Salehoo are popular because they are so safe to use – and they offer high quality and genuine products at low prices from suppliers based around the world, including many in the United States.  However, they are expensive – membership to Worldwide Brands costs $299 for lifetime access and Salehoo costs $67 per year.  Even more expensive is Doba – which costs between $29 and $249 a month.

So many Shopify store owners look for alternatives that are cheaper but still reliable.  One of the top alternatives to Worldwide Brands is Ali Express – which is free to join and has millions of suppliers (both wholesalers and drop shippers) that you can buy from on the Ali Express site.  All of these suppliers are based in China, which means the goods are very cheap, but shipping is often terribly slow to the USA.

These will never be as reliable or offer the sort of branded goods that Worldwide Brands and Salehoo offer.  However, they do offer cheap goods at really low prices and you can even find reliable and fast suppliers if you look hard enough.

Questions and Answers About Worldwide Brands

By   June 5, 2018

Several months ago I wrote a long and detailed Worldwide Brands review but since then I've received a lot of questions about Worldwide Brands that were not dealt with in that review, so this article will hopefully fill that gap.

How many suppliers are listed in Worldwide Brands's database?

There are over 8,000 certified wholesalers and drop shippers listed in Worldwide Brands, with more than 16 million products available to buy at trade prices between them.

You need to contact each supplier directly though, as it's not possible to order products directly through the Worldwide Brands site.

Do any suppliers sell in light bulk?

With Worldwide Brands they do – in fact over 90% of the suppliers in their database offer light bulk as an option (minimum orders are only $150-500).

Moreover, around 70% of the suppliers in Worldwide Brands will drop ship directly to your customers.

Are there any discounts for Worldwide Brands or Salehoo?

There's a $50 discount for Worldwide Brands in the review I link to above, and often there are seven day trial offers for Salehoo that initially only cost $1.00.

Which is better Worldwide Brands or Salehoo?

That's a hard question to answer, but I wrote a long answer in my review that I link to above.

However, the short answer is that in my opinion Worldwide Brands offers better long term value for money – but both directories are useful and worth joining if you are looking for low priced suppliers.

Worldwide Brands – Is It Still Worth Joining in 2018?

By   April 12, 2018

Since it was founded by a successful eBay Power Seller back in 1999, Worldwide Brands has been the leading source of wholesalers and drop shippers on the internet – especially for new eBay businesses, which the company still has strong links with.

But back then there were not as many places to find suppliers, so how does Worldwide Brands compare to the competition in 2018 – nearly 20 years later?  Is it still worth joining or a waste of money?

The Competition in 2018

In 2005 Salehoo, another very similar directory, was founded – but although it's much cheaper to join Salehoo has an annual fee and quite a few up sells, and only 10% of the product range Worldwide Brands offers.

The biggest competition now comes from sites like DHGate.com and Ali Express – two large Chinese marketplaces for wholesale and drop shipped products.

These are really easy to buy from, there is no membership fee and the products are absurdly cheap.  The only problem – and it's a big problem if you're buying on these sites – is that there's no guarantee that the suppliers will be reliable.

While Worldwide Brands certify all suppliers after rigorous research, there is no certification process for Ali Express or DH Gate.  That means that there is more risk buying from the suppliers found there.

That's where Worldwide Brands still has the advantage – although these are cheaper and bigger, Worldwide Brands is a curated directory and has much higher reliability levels than anywhere else.
